Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said: "If we focus on making the next Scottish Parliament a Covid recovery parliament we can immediately lift as many as 60,000 children out of poverty and work towards ending the scandal of child poverty once and for all.
Scottish Labour will today pledge to “repair and renew the safety net” and introduce a minimum income guarantee using Holyrood's social security powers
The party said the Scottish Parliament must commit to building a system based on dignity and reverse the cruelest aspect of Tory welfare reform, such as the two-child limit.
But Mr Sarwar has outlined how his party will go further, outlining plans for a transformative approach to social security that ensures no one is left behind with a “minimum income guarantee” and using the powers to reduce child poverty.
More than 220,000 youngsters across the country are now living in poverty - around a quarter of the child population.
