Monklands hospital has been plagued by controversy from management and government cutting services to patient safety concerns. Today is just another drive by government to try and take away services from the area which this vital hospital link serves.
later today in the Scottish parliament MSPs will vote on a motion to see if its future is to be saved. Under current plans NHS Lanarkshire is consulting on proposals for a new replacement hospital with a replacement in Gartcosh as its number one option. Over 5,000 people have signed a petition against this.
