Glasgow, UK. 27 September 2019. Following the immediate fallout from the collapsed tour company Thomas Cook, Operation Matterhorn is still in full swing at Glasgow Airport. The grounded and impounded Thomas Cook aircraft have been moved to a quieter part of the airfield to make way for the wide body fleet needed for operation Matterhorn. In a Scottish aviation history first today is the first day that any Scottish airport has hosted two if the super jumbo behemoth Airbus A380-800 aircraft at the same time, but also there was an additional other two jumbos at Glasgow at the same time, a Hi Fly Airbus A340-300 and a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400. In addition to these Glasgow also hosted a number of other wide bodies.
