Scottish Water prince increase proposal puts tenants at risk, Glasgow, 18 Feb 2021 17 images Created 18 Feb 2021
Glasgow Scotland, UK. 18 February 2021.
PRESS RELEASE
The media are invited to a PRESS BRIEFING/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY on Thursday 18th February 2021 at 1 PM outside the City Chambers George Square Glasgow to oppose increased water charges and water poverty and to give details on the forthcoming Non Payment Campaign.
Scottish Water are sitting on a cash surplus of over half a billion pounds which belongs to the People of Scotland and yet Scottish Water supported by the Scottish Government intend to inflict bombshell increased water charges on all Households in Scotland from Bands A to H at the rate of inflation plus 2 percent in real terms each year from 2021 to 2040. In addition Households on Social Security Benefits will still be forced to pay 65 percent of their water bills.
We are demanding that water charges are frozen for the next 6 years from 2021 to 2027-28, that all those on social security benefits get 100 mitigation and that all domestic water debts are written off. The above is what is needed during this terrible COVID-19 Pandemic to reduce the financial burden on our most vulnerable people instead of further enriching Scottish Water to be set up for Privatisation.
I can be contacted on 07761101504 for more information.
