The Lion & The Unicorn Hotel has been going strong since 1999 under the ownership of Landlady, Fiona Stevenson. The hotel, restaurant and snug bar act as the local community hub in Thornhill. There really is no place quite like it with, good locally sourced food, good chat and a general relaxed and happy vibe through the place. Then along came the Coronavirus (COVID19) Pandemic and businesses local and national struggled massively and a lot of them went bust. Thornhill’s beating heart of the community is the Lion and Unicorn Hotel. Locals paying their daily visit to exchange stories and have a blether can no longer under the various lockdowns. A community in crisis and a business on the brink. Blood, sweat and tears and more have been poured into this place, and everyone is dammed if its going to be last orders at the bar on their watch. So far most of the staff have been furloughed leaving a skeleton staff to keep everything running and in a safe and distanced manner. Keep your local community alive and and buy local. If the Lion and The Unicorn were to close its doors for good then the only other place in Thornhill will be the local newsagents, and this means that all the good things which come with a hotel like this will be gone forever.
