• Highland Region Border, Pass of Drumochter, Scotland, UK. 10 August 2020
Pictured: Sean Clerkin of Action For Scotland is protesting today at the Highland Region Border, by calling on the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon to stop people from England travelling to the Highlands and Islands to stop the spread of COVID-19 from happening in this part of Scotland through non-essential travel.

Sean said: Only local people who live in the Islands should be allowed to travel to the islands ferry.

The UK Authorities brought in quarantine for British tourists coming back from Spain when Spain had 27 COVID-19 cases per 100,000. In places such as Blackburn COVID19 is 82.6 per 100,000, Oldham is 66.6 per 100,000 and Manchester is 31 per 100,000 therefore it is very important to close the border to people coming up from England.
Action For Scotland have conducted a Protest today at Glasgow Central Station as part of our ongoing campaign calling on people from England not to be allowed to come to Scotland for non essential reasons at a time when COVID-19 is 5.5 times higher in England than it is in Scotland. Professor Rowland Kao -Mathematical Biologist from Edinburgh University stated two weeks ago that if air travel, rail and road traffic increases from England To Scotland then there will be a substantial increase in Covid-19 in Scotland.

We will continue to protest at ports of entry at airports, railway stations and bus stations to drive the message home that it is unacceptable for people to come from other areas to Scotland where the corona virus is higher. It is time for Nicola Sturgeon First Minister to impose stricter controls on the border and at ports of entry. Credit: Colin D Fisher/CDFIMAGES.COM

PRESS RELEASE:
The Protest today is directed towards the Scottish Government calling on it to close the Scottish Border to all people on non essential travel from areas of high transmission in England. It is time the Scottish Government showed some backbone and stopped the spread of the coronavirus from these areas coming to Scotland via legal travel restrictions.

The Welsh Government today will legally ban people from all non-essential travel to Wales from other areas of high transmission in England. The Scottish Government have to do the same to protect the People of Scotland on the grounds of Public Health. That also means people from Scotland should be stopped from travelling to the North of England on the grounds that they could bring the virus back to Scotland as represented by positive cases from Blackpool.

There is no anti English sentiments being expressed here but the cold hard reality that we must all behave properly to beat this Terrible Disease. I can be contacted on 07761101504 for more information.
